What is a Super?
A super is where the bees store their honey. It’s the shallow box that goes on top of the brood box. It’s shallower to allow for easier lifting.
What are your beehives made of?
Our hives are made from pine wood. It’s lightweight, durable, and has great insulation properties. Hence, it’s been used to make hives for years.
What is the difference between a brood box and a super box?
The brood box is where the queen lays eggs and the bees raise their brood. The super box is where the bees make their honey.
What other tools do I need for my bee hive?
Some other accessories you’ll need might include a hive tool, smoker, queen excluder, and gloves.
What more do you need once I buy a hive?
You must purchase a nucleus colony to fill your hive with bees. This is a small colony of bees that you place into your hive. They’ll grow to fill the hive.
How do I harvest from these beehives?
You’ll need a honey extractor to take honey from these hives. Remove the supers from the hive and extract the honey from the frames.
Are these hives suitable for the garden?
Yes, these are the perfect bee hives for gardens.
Are these hives designed for honey bees?
Yes, all our hives are honey bee hives. They are specifically designed for honey bees.
Do you sell bees and a hive?
We sell National Nucleus colonies of bees, which aren’t compatible with Langstroth hives.

Our hives are for sale in the UK. We deliver to all mainland UK, including Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Bees arrived in good condition with the queen safely stowed in a cage. The bees themselves were very calm and transitioned to their new hive very well. They've been very busy and pretty much drawn out the brood box and the best part of half a super. Sadly though and likely no fault of Hive Guys, the queen disappeared and supercedure has taken place (they have defo not swarmed). So this hive is currently in limbo while a new queen is produced and mated (fingers crossed)

Ordered three Queens from the guys I spoke to at the Telford Show, as I need early mated Queens for splits to replace failed autumn losses. Took a punt as they were an unknown quality. Arrived on time, all introduced and accepted.
NUC 1 wall to wall brood really quickly, and continues to be so.
NUC 2 much slower start, but now caught up, and equal to No 1 today. Both now in full langstroth brood boxes.
NUC 3 show start then clearly a drone layer. Contacted Harry with photos, and he offered an immediate replacement, arrived next day as promised. Now accepted and laying as strongly as the rest. Nice calm bees. Slow on the comb. Obviously can't comment long term at the minute regards honey production, but bringing plenty of pollen and nectar to enable their growth.
Purchased an overwinter NUC this year. Great service and price. Colony is doing very well.
Hive guys,sent me an email to say queens in the post.they arrived next day,930 am.All queens ,placed in hives with 2 frames of brood.They should be good for summer flow.thankyou hive guys keep it up.

Last year, because I had a colony that were getting to be a problem, ( rather aggressive ) I purchased two new queen bees from another supplier and I split and re-queened them. The cost was over £100, and they both failed.
Luckily I spotted over wintered 6 frame Nuk's for sale at The Hive Guys, I ordered one early this year, which arrived end of April.
I re-housed them and released the queen ( which was caged for transport ) and let them fly out.
These bees are brilliant, the queen is filling the drawn comb with new brood
and the workers are working well ( without aggression ). It is a pleasure doing my hive inspections.
I did however make one mistake, all of my bees are on 14 x 12 National deep foundation so I now have burr comb extending down from the standard frames that the bees came on which I will have to sort outing the future.
I am confident that I will be ordering another over wintered colony next year, and to over come this problem I will make a box to fill the space under the six standard frames such that the bees will not be able to extend burr comb down, and have the rest of the deep frames each side, this will make my inspections much easier.
First nuc in the post for me, i'm a new beekeeper did not know what to expect but it all went 10/10.
Nuc arrived bang on time bees were happy Queen was happy, filling out brood nicely.
