Can you use this bee hive for honey bees?
Yes, someone designed this for use with honey bees.
How many bees live in each hive?
It depends on the time of year. Mid-summer, there are around 60,000 bees, this drops to about 20,000 mid-winter.

Is this a poly bee hive?
No, it’s made from pine and is a more traditional bee hive style.
What do I need to get to start a hive?
You’ll need to purchase a ‘nuc’ (short for nucleus) of bees to fit your hive. They come with about 20,000 worker bees and a single queen bee. This is the best way to start off your honey bee colony.
Do I need to buy frames for this hive?
Yes, this doesn’t include frames. You’ll need to buy 10 Langstroth brood frames for this hive. If you choose wooden frames, you’ll need to also get wax foundation.
What bee hive parts are included?
You’ll get a fully functional beehive including a brood box, two supers, roof and a floor.
