Why buy an overwintered nuc rather than a summer nuc?

An overwintered nuc has already proven it can survive a winter, and it arrives early in the season, giving it more time to build up and potentially produce a honey crop in its first year.

When are overwintered nucs delivered?

Overwintered 6 frame National nucs are delivered in April, and overwintered 5 frame Langstroth nucs in late March.

How far ahead should I reserve an overwintered nuc?

Overwintered nucs are reserved in advance with a £60 deposit, so booking early in the autumn or winter gives you the best chance of securing one for spring.

When do I pay the balance on my overwintered nuc?

We email you one week before despatch to request the balance. The full price is £290, plus £9.50 Royal Mail Special Delivery.

Should I choose a National or Langstroth overwintered nuc?

Match the nuc to your hive. The 6 frame National nuc suits National hives, and the 5 frame Langstroth nuc suits Langstroth hives, as the frames are different sizes.

What queen comes with an overwintered nuc?

Each overwintered nuc is headed by an F1 Buckfast queen that has already come through winter with her colony.
